How We Test Amazon Haul Products

Every product on AmazonHaul Finds is bought with our own money, shipped to a US address, unboxed on camera, and used for at least a week before we say anything about it. Here is the full method, so you can judge our verdicts.

The rules we never break

  • We buy everything. No free samples, no seller-supplied units, no “send us your product” program. If a seller contacts us, the item is excluded.
  • Every link goes to Amazon.com. We are an Amazon Associate and may earn a commission on qualifying purchases. We do not link to any other store or affiliate program, which means we have no reason to push you anywhere but the product we tested.
  • Verdicts are binary. An item either passed (we would buy it again) or it was dropped. We do not publish star ratings, because a 3.5-star Haul item is not something we would tell a friend to buy.
  • We say when we are not sure. Anything marked “testing now” has no verdict yet. We do not pre-write praise and fill in the blanks later.

The process, step by step

  1. Pick candidates. Each week we pull items from four sources: Amazon Haul’s own best-seller and new-arrival sections, questions from our readers and social followers, items that are popular on Temu or Shein and have a Haul equivalent, and reader requests.
  2. Order to a US address. Orders are placed on Amazon Haul in the normal way and shipped to our US address. Order date, promised window, and arrival date are logged in our test log.
  3. Unbox on camera. We photograph the package, the item, and the listing side by side. Size and color mismatches are the most common Haul failure, so this step catches a lot.
  4. Use it for a week. Kitchen items get washed daily. Cables and chargers get plugged and unplugged. Clothes get worn and washed. Organizers get loaded with real stuff. Toys go to actual kids.
  5. Decide. Would we reorder it at this price, knowing the two-week wait? Yes means it passes; anything else means it is dropped and we say why.
  6. Recheck quarterly. Haul listings change sellers and quality. Passed items are reordered every three months; if a reorder fails, the item is pulled.

What the badges mean

BadgeMeaning
On our test listShortlisted for testing; not ordered yet and no verdict.
Testing nowOrdered; no verdict yet. The card tells you what we are checking.
Passed our testArrived as described, worked, survived a week, and we would buy it again.
DroppedFailed one of the steps above. Dropped items are listed in the “What to skip” section of each category with the reason.

What we cannot test

We cannot test every seller of a given item type, and Haul listings sometimes change sellers under the same listing. We also cannot test safety-critical items like electrical products to a lab standard; for anything that plugs into a wall, we check for UL or ETL marks and say so. If an item is in a category where we lack expertise, we say that too.

Corrections

If a passed item fails for you, tell us on our social channels. Two credible failure reports trigger a reorder and retest; if it fails again, it is pulled and the page is updated with a note.

Who does the testing

Testing is run by Jannatun Naim, the founder of AmazonHaul Finds, with help from family members for the clothes, kids, and pet categories. Nobody involved has any relationship with Amazon beyond being an Amazon Associate and a regular customer.
