- Stick to tools. Clips, brushes, sponges, organizers, and nail tools have been consistent passes. They are simple objects with no ingredients to worry about.
- Read the material line on anything touching skin. Sponges and brushes should say what they are made of. If the listing does not, skip it.
- Satin and silk claims are usually polyester satin. That is fine at $3, but do not expect real silk.
- Organizers: acrylic over “crystal”. “Crystal” listings are thin plastic that cracks at the drawer corners.
What to skip
- Skincare, cosmetics, and anything with ingredients. We do not test or recommend products you apply to your skin from unknown sellers, at any price. Buy those from regular Amazon with a recognizable brand.
- Heated tools. Curling irons and straighteners with no safety marks are a fire risk.
- Press-on nails with glue included. The glue has been the failure point every time.
